So, picture this: you’ve decided to embark on a running journey. Maybe you’ve been inspired by an incredible story of a runner conquering the odds, or perhaps you’re just fed up with your current routine and need a change. Well, welcome to the club! We’ve all been there, and I’ve got some sage advice to share with you today. But before we dive into the nitty-gritty of running routines, let’s talk about priorities.

Now, I make a great point: if you want to know someone’s priorities, take a peek at their daily schedule. You’ll get a good sense of what they truly value. And when it comes to running, consistency is the name of the game. So, let’s break down a typical day in my life, shall we?
First things first, let’s talk about the morning. Some folks are early birds, ready to seize the day at the crack of dawn. Others, like me, would rather have a staring contest with the snooze button. So, here’s the deal: find your groove. Whether you’re up at 5:30 AM or 6:30 AM, it doesn’t matter as long as it works for you. I tried the 4:30 AM gig; it wasn’t my jam. Find your sweet spot.
Now, before we lace up those running shoes, there’s a morning ritual I swear by. It’s what I like to call the “morning trifecta.” You’ve got journaling, meditation, and reading. It’s like your runner’s morning coffee without the jitters. For me, meditation after waking up is like trying to run a marathon with one shoe on. Give yourself a few minutes to fully wake up, read something inspirational, jot down your thoughts, and then tackle your day.
Life can be a bit chaotic, especially when you’re juggling family, work, and running. For most of us, those first couple of hours in the morning are a whirlwind of getting kids ready, feeding pets, and trying to remember if you brushed your teeth. It’s all part of the adventure. But here’s a tip: embrace the chaos and find your groove within it.
Around 8 AM, it’s game time for your workout. If you’re like me and not a fan of the crack-of-dawn runs, this is your moment. But let’s not forget about work. If you’re stuck behind a desk like I am, take a page from my book and embrace the stand-up desk life. It’s a great way to keep your blood flowing. And don’t be afraid to do a little desk-dancing or quick stretches during those long video calls – it’s a great way to keep your hips from feeling like they’re stuck in cement.
After the morning grind, it’s time for fuel – not just for your body but for your soul. Family dinners are non-negotiable in my house. It’s a chance to reconnect, chat about the day, and find out what’s working and what needs improvement. Plus, it’s an excellent excuse for some delicious post-run grub.
As the day winds down, it’s essential to switch gears. Wind down 30 minutes before bedtime. Swap the screen time for some self-care. I recommend another trifecta: meditation, reading, and journaling. This routine will help you transition from the hustle and bustle of the day to a peaceful night’s sleep. And let’s be honest, a good night’s sleep is a runner’s best friend.

Now, here’s where the magic happens – the weekly planning. About 10 days ahead, I map out my training and life schedule. It’s a puzzle, figuring out how to fit workouts into the chaos of daily life. But remember, it’s all about priorities. You’ll become a scheduling wizard in no time.
So, my fellow running enthusiasts, the key takeaway here is to find what works for you. I have my routine, and you should create yours. Your running journey is personal, and your routine should reflect your priorities and lifestyle.
And don’t forget, embrace the chaos, dance at your desk, and find your sweet spot for training. It’s all part of the adventure. So, go out there, lace up those shoes, and run like the wind – or at your own pace. After all, we’re all runners here, and I believe in you! 🏃♀️🏃♂️💨
